I discovered a new healthy lunch spot near my work that I want to share! It just opened last week and it’s worth checking out if you’re craving something light and healthy — which I recommend in this stifling heat.
I tried their summer roll ($4.95), which was filled with julienned veggies and mango. It came with this amazing hearty ginger dipping sauce. I don’t even know what else was in there but it was scrumptious.
I was feeling super duper healthy so I got a green juice ($5.95). Ingredients included spinach, parsley, cucumber, celery and lemon. It was hardcore.
On a side note: It makes me sad that fresh juice is so expensive, and that’s just the status quo — way to encourage people to be healthy! Actually, it makes me even more sad that healthy, organic food is generally more expensive than shitty processed food, but that’s a rant for another blog 😉
All-in-all, it was good, but not the most amazing food or drink I’ve ever had. The summer roll itself was nothing special, but the dipping sauce was delicious. It also wasn’t very filling as there wasn’t any protein in there. The juice is what I like to call high-level healthy. You need to know what you’re in for when you attempt to be high-level healthy. You have to go into it knowing it isn’t going to taste like cookies and cream. There’s no way around it. It’s healthy and it is what it is. That said, the more you eat and drink healthy, the more you actually like the taste of healthy!
So this juice definitely didn’t taste “good” in the traditional sense. But I’ve had my fair share of green juices, so I’m used to the flavour. But that doesn’t mean I’ve deluded myself into thinking that what I was drinking tasted delicious. When I was deciding which juice to get, the server told me this one tastes like lemonade. HA! Nope, definitely not! The lemon wasn’t even very strong in there. It was very… green. They could have definitely made this taste a lot better with a better ratio of veggies and maybe adding an apple in there, so that’s on them. But it did taste good in the healthy sense — i.e. I felt good about drinking it and I was capable of drinking the whole thing, so it wasn’t bad.
I’m really selling it, eh?!
I’ll cut Nutri-Mania some slack since they just opened, and I’ll definitely try out some other menu items another time.
Check out their site! I just went myself and noticed they have a 2-for-1 coupon that you can print out!
