{montreal} :: natural health shop: branche d’olivier

I’m going to start posting more local recommendations because I know a lot of you guys are from Montreal.

If you aren’t from Montreal, you should definitely visit and I’ll give you a tour!

Branche d’Olivier is one of my most recent favourite go-to natural health and bulk food shops. It’s in my neighbourhood – St. Henri – which is very convenient for me, but I would also recommend that you pay a visit to my neighbourhood if you have a chance, particularly for the numerous adorable antique shops and cafés.

But I digress!

Back to Branche d’Olivier.

It’s not a massive store, but they have quite a variety of great natural and organic options for cheaper than most natural health shops.

I particularly like that their Tofurky sausages are the cheapest I’ve found. Admittedly, not by much – they still run at almost $5. My favourite part is the bulk section where you can find beans, rice, cereal, flour, nuts etc. Unfortunately we don’t have a Bulk Barn near us so this is the next best thing :).

On their website, they specify that they are a favourite with vegetarians. They also have different food from around the world. This is from their website:

This shop is the place to find all the ingredients you need to concoct the most exotic recipes. Themselves of Iraqi origin, the owners offer products from around the world including the Middle East, North Africa and South America. They even have gluten- and sugar-free products.

Here are the details of their two locations (I’ve only been to the one on Notre Dame):

Branche d’Olivier NDO
3437 Rue Notre-Dame Ouest
Montreal, QC H4C1N9

Branche d’Oliver Verdun
4342 Wellington
Verdun, QC H4G1W4
